Cabinet meeting was held at Gandhinagar today. Which is currently completed. Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama has made an important statement on the issue of opening schools in the state after Diwali. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said that schools will open in Gujarat from November 23. Classes from standard 9 to 12 will be started as per SOP. Colleges have also been announced to start teaching from November 23.
The Education Minister said that the classes of Std. 9 to 12 will be started as per SOP. Secondary, higher secondary, schools and colleges will start after Diwali, but institutions will have to get the written consent of the parents. Student attendance will not be considered compulsory. Colleges will also start teaching from November 23. Educational work will start in phases. The first medical, paramedical class will start in the college. Final year classes will be started at the graduation level. In colleges and schools, the principal has to follow the guideline. Students will be given a form for approval.
It may be mentioned here that the government wants to keep the academic session longer after Diwali. Under normal circumstances the first session starts in the month of June and lasts for 105 days. This session ends with a 21-day Diwali vacation, but the second session will be 150 to 155 days, as the time wasted in the next session can be made up. The schools will open at the end of November, which means that the next five months will mean the end of May.
The government is preparing to invite students from Std 9 to Std 12 to school after Diwali vacation. This year, Diwali vacation in Gujarat schools has been held two weeks early from October 29 to November 18.
It is to be noted here that the Gujarat government is to announce the decision today to start school and college after Diwali. After the cabinet meeting, Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama announced the reopening of schools after Diwali. A core committee meeting was held at the Chief Minister's residence yesterday (Tuesday) to discuss the issues that were to be discussed in today's cabinet meeting. Information will also be given about the SOP prepared by the Department of Education.
